Do you think vector print looks cool? Or vector graphics? If you want to know how to do it, this is the easiest and best tutorial out there, that fully explains “how to vector”

Want to learn how to vector? This is my first tutorial…so if something doesnt make sense or you have any suggestions, let me know! This tutorial may be confusing to those of you unfamiliar with Adobe Photoshop For my tutorial, I chose a picture of Britney Spears, I would recommend using the same picture that I used, for simplicity purposes, but if you would like to start right away with your own, then make sure your first vector has no teeth showing or ears. Sounds stupid, but those are the hardest parts, and you should practice with something simple at first
The first thing to do is zoom in on your photo about 500-800%. Center your window around Britney Spear’s left eye. So if you`re doing Britney Spears, make her bigger!!

Select the pen tool, and at the very top left corner, make sure “Create New Shape Layer” is on. SELECT white as your foreground color.
Next left click in an outline around the white of the eye. You should have something like you see to the left. After you finish the outline, click on the background layer. When you start a new shape layer, it automatically creates its own layer. By clicking on the background layer after you finish each shape, you ensure that you will keep your shape layers in the right order. So that shape 2 will be under shape 1 and shape 132 will be under shape 96.

Next do the same thing to the pupil of the eye (the black part). Again, click on the background layer Next do the colored part of the eye. Click on the background layer.

Next do the main white part of the eye and the outline…eyeliner if you will. Next do the eyelashes. It`s okay if they are a little choppy they will look fine from farther away

Now do the eyebrows in a lighter color than the eye, but a darker color than the hair. Dont be worried if it looks a little jaggy and messy. When you hide the background layer and back up (as in the picture on the left) it will look fine.

Next make a copy of the background layer by dragging it over the new layer icon on the bottom of the layer window. Select that layer, go to Image > Adjust > Posterize Choose somewhere between 5 and 10 layers I chose 6 you should have something that looks a little bit like the image below.

Now, you have a basic outline for where each color will go. Now it appears that the photo has layers of solid color. Use these layers as a guide. First do the lips. Find the lightest color on the lips and vector it, as you did the eyes.

Do the same with the other parts of the lip you should have something that looks like below.

Now, it`s time for the skin. Choose the lightest color of the skin, and vector it. Not too hard is it?

Use the same color to vector all the parts with the same color.

Next vector the next lightest color, and all matching sections.

Keep going. Do color after color. Finish the face before moving onto the hair!

NOW YOU SHOULD HAVE A BEAUTIFUL, VECTORED BRITNEY!!!
